Ray-Ban Meta officially in Europe - the list of countries surprises

Meta is bringing its Meta Ray-Ban smart glasses to Europe - but some markets still have to wait for full support.

Ray-Ban Meta is a smart eyewear created in collaboration between Meta and EssilorLuxottica. It is an exciting step forward in wearable technology that combines style with functionality. Building on the foundation of the 2021 Ray-Ban Stories glasses, the new version offers enhanced features - better cameras, improved audio quality and seamless integration with social media platforms. Although there are minor limitations, overall the kit looks impressive and will meet the needs of many users looking for a stylish and practical accessory.

However, if you have been considering buying glasses Ray-Ban meta due to AI functions, you might have been disappointed. The device did not support any advanced artificial intelligence features - in particular, such as real-time translation or sharing the camera view with an AI assistant that can analyse your surroundings and answer questions about what you see.

This disappointment was felt not only by customers in Poland, but across Europe - AI features were only available in the US, relegating Europe to the background. Fortunately, this is changing - Meta has finally introduced Meta Ray-Ban eyewear to the European market, also offering long-awaited access to AI-based features.

Meta Ray-Ban glasses can translate languages in real time. Currently, the following languages are supported: English, French, Italian and Spanish. When you are wearing the glasses and someone speaks to you in a foreign language, a voice assistant will translate the utterance into your language. When responding, the other person will see the translation of your words on the phone screen in the 'Meta View' app. Ideally, of course, both people should have these glasses, but despite the their growing popularity, it will still be some time before this becomes commonplace.

Interestingly - and extremely useful - the translation function can also work without internet access. All you need to do is download the relevant language data to your glasses via the app.

These and other AI features have gradually started to make their way to Europe. The UK received the ability to talk to Meta AI back in April, along with the option to ask questions about what the glasses are seeing.

Meta has started to make the functionality available in other European countries. The list includes Ireland, France, Italy, Germany, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Finland - these countries will receive Meta AI functionality as early as next week.

For the time being, Poland is not on the list of countries that have received the Meta AI feature, although it will certainly be coming soon. Meta is gradually introducing the feature to more European markets, and the fact that it will soon reach countries such as Ireland, France and Italy indicates that Poland will not have to wait too long for access to this innovative technology. Given the growing popularity of Meta Ray-Ban devices in Poland, the company may decide to quickly expand the availability of the AI feature in this region.

It is also worth mentioning that the development of artificial intelligence in everyday devices, such as Meta Ray-Ban glasses, is just the beginning. The technology is becoming more advanced with each passing day, and the possibilities it offers users could significantly impact the way we view everyday interactions with technology. Features such as real-time translation, or the ability to talk to an AI assistant about the world around us, represent a huge step forward in the development of wearable technology.
